Enzyme substrates

A substrate is a molecule upon which an enzyme acts. Enzyme substrates bind, with various degrees of specificity, to enzymes to form an enzyme-substrate complex (ES). Examples include 2-Oxo-cyclobutane Undecanoic Acid and 4-Methylumbelliferyl 6-Sulfo-2-acetamido-2-deoxy-α-D-glucopyranoside.
