Applications: A labeled inhibitor of blood clot formation. Causes dilation of blood vessels. Inhibits the phosphodiesterase enzymes that break down cAMP and cGMP. Also inhibits cellular reuptake of adenosine into platelets, red blood cells and endothelial cells. Used to treat peripheral arterial disease and coronary artery disease. Also used to prevent strokes in patients with a history of stoke.
